As a longtime journalist, writer, editor and freelancer, my work can be found in numerous places —  Web sites, magazines, books, newspapers, and, now, here.

I am a divorced mom of two teenage boys who are taller than I am, so I'm a lot nicer to them nowadays. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and am usually hiking or biking around when I'm not behind my desk at the Marin Independent Journal, where I am lifestyles editor as well as the editor of here magazine, a weekly alternative.

I am an observer of people, and love to explore why we do what we do. Plus I read a lot, perhaps too much, and like to share interesting tidbits that I discover. What I hope to do here is get a dialog going about parenting, men, women, divorce, marriage, teens, society — really, life.

And, I am also fulfilling a childhood dream by being the lead singer in a chick band, Sounds Like China.
